Excellent French violin labeled Buthod!
This is a high quality French violin! Perfectly lovely in both looks and tonal characteristics. Of interest is the fine bridge that came with the violin, personally made by the great Dutch luthier, Jacob Jan van de Geest (1899-1974). Geest established himself in Johannesburg, South Africa, in 1939, and was known as “The Wonderful Dutchman.” This is a top end violin!
The condition is very good. There are only two minor crack repairs: a small repaired wing crack, and a repaired saddle crack. Both are on the treble side. It is ready for many decades of service!
Set up with D’Addario Zyex strings.
Amazingly rich with overtones, with excellent resonance!
